Operation Prom Date by Cindi Madsen Review + BLOG TOUR

Operation Prom Date by Cindi Madsen

Welcome to my stop on the Operation Prom Date Tour, brought to you by Entangled Teen, Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours, and Crush Books! I would first like to thank Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours for including me in the tour and providing me with a copy of the novel in exchange for a review! Crush Books always has such cute novels, and this was no exception! I absolutely loved this novel and everything about it - the characters were adorable and I loved the relationships that developed throughout the story. Kate, our protagonist, enlists the help of her friend Cooper in order to snag football star Mick Pecker as her prom date - what could go wrong? I fell in love with Kate and Cooper and their plan, but loved their friendship even more. They had such a pure relationship and worked so well together, and I was so happy with the ending of the novel. The novel read so well and smooth, and all of the TV and book references throughout the novel was so nice to see as a fellow fangirl. Our protagonist's initial crush, Mick, first appears to be the classic high school football player trope, but surprises us at the end of the novel and slowly throughout the story. I really enjoyed how Kate's past friendships with others were repaired, and the author did a fantastic job of piecing everything together. I have always been a fan of cute Rom-Com novels, and Crush Books seems to always deliver. I highly recommend this novel to fans of The Bad Boy Bargain and Life After Juliet.
Operation Prom Date (Tactics in Dating #1)
by Cindi Madsen
Publication Date: March 13, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen Crush

Kate ships tons of fictional couples, but IRL her OTP is her and Mick, the hot quarterback she’s crushed on since, like, forever. With only one semester left of senior year, it’s now or never if she wants to land him in time for prom. Since she’s flirtationally challenged, she enlists Cooper Callihan, the guy who turned popular seemingly overnight but who used to be a good friend.

Cooper lives and breathes rowing, but his partner just broke his wrist. When he remembers Kate’s good with a set of oars, he strikes a deal: help him train, and he’ll make sure her crush notices her. Only he didn’t know how addicting spending time with her would be. Or how the more successful the Operation is, the more jealousy he experiences.

The mission has been set. The troops have their marching orders. But what if the target is the wrong guy all along?

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains stargazing, accidental swimming, and poker swindling. This kissing practice will melt your ereader…and give you a new couple to ship.

Author: Rachel Abugov

Pub. Date: February 22, 2022

Publisher: Rachel's Kissing Books

Formats: Paperback, eBook

Pages: 270

In this corner: Madison "Mad Dog" Bennett: Venture capitalist. Runs on instincts and caffeine. Fearless (unless it's love).

In this corner: Maurice "Murderface" Mayfield: Former MMA fighter, Eternal optimist. Has a collection of designer sneakers. Also collects crazy exes.

Sparks fly between Maddie and Mo when she invests in his MMA-themed gyms. But Mo is known for his flavor-of-the-month romances. Maddie thinks she's watching the clock run out on them when Mo's ex drops off a package - the son he never knew he had.

Maddie and Mo's wedding is interrupted, and Maddie thinks she must choose between flight or fight. Fighting is in her comfort zone, but love? Not so much. Working things through? Even less. It won't be an easy trip down the aisle.

EXCERPT

I let Mo draw the faux-fur blanket over us and wrap me in his arms.

“This is nice,” I said. “Hanging out with you is really nice.” It was the closest I’d gotten to expressing emotions in a long time.

“I could get used to this.”

“Me too. It’s really nice.” What the hell, Maddie? Didn’t I know any words other than ‘nice’?

My mouth engaged again, before my brain could search for synonyms. “I’m so lucky to have you in my life,” I gulped. “You saved me from the hell of the funeral. You’ve got so many good qualities – I could go on and on.”

“Please don’t stop on my account,” teased Mo. “You’re off to a good start.”

“Actually, that’s all I got.” I didn’t want to sound like I was at the “I love you, man” stage of drunkenness. We’d seen enough of that earlier. At least, I had.

“Okay.” Mo took a deep breath. “So, let’s discuss the next step. We’re business partners. We’re living together.  There’s only one more thing we can do. Let’s get married.”

“Wait, what?

Had I heard right? Of course I had. It just seemed a little soon.

“I know it seems a little soon,” continued Mo.

Told you so.

“But when you know, you know. The first time we worked out together, you were a champ. You looked me straight in the eye. You were fierce and you weren’t afraid to show it. You knew all about me and you were okay with it. It’s hard to find that in one person. Believe me, I’ve tried. And if you think I’m gonna let you go, you’re insane.” Mo started rubbing my back exactly how I liked to have my back rubbed.

This was getting much more difficult. There had to be a way to let him down gently.  I knew the words, but they wouldn’t come out of my mouth.

“You caught me off guard,” is what I said. “But I always trust my instincts. And they’re telling me to be all in. Ride or die.”

“Ride or die,” said Mo. He said other stuff, too. Then, things escalated and before long, I was invoking the Lord’s name. I do that in the heat of the moment. #sorrynotsorry

She can't remember a time when she wasn't a reader, and therefore, a wannabe writer. Her first attempt at novel-writing was when she was 11, and she restarted in seriousness around four years ago.

Rachel writes women's contemporary fiction  - snarky but sweet (that means closed-door sex scenes but lots of sarcasm and  tons of schmoopiness) The longer she writes, the more her characters resemble facets of herself and echo her life experiences. The First Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski Review + BLOG TOUR + GIVEAWAY

The First Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski

Welcome to my stop on the First Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski blog tour! Thank you so much to Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours for including me in the tour, as well as providing me with a free copy for review! Nora and Eli are absolutely so cute as best friends in the beginning of the book, and you ca definitely see the tension between them the instant we get a glimpse into Eli's perspective in the second chapter. When Nora is being taught how to drive by Eli, their relationship is so sweet and precious, I absolutely could not wait to see how their relationship would unfold as the book went on, and I was not disappointed. The scene when Nora and Eli go tot he beach party is so cute - you can definitely see Eli getting a little jealous over a certain Texan who is trying to get Nora's attention. After a certain event leaves Eli broken over the rest of his lacrosse season, we can see the tensions rising amongst him and the situation that is occurring with our friendly neighborhood Tex. The entire book flowed so well, and was written in a way that makes their reader feel as if you were sitting next to Nora and Eli for their entire journey. I really loved the way that the author was able to challenge Nora and Eli's relationship through sports, injuries, colleges, and other potential boys that Nora could have chosen throughout the book. Eli's mindset throughout the novel was also very interesting to see, as we see him transform from best friend to something more, but not before he makes a mistake that could cost him everything that he has been working for in the end. If you're looking for a quick read that is easy to love and hard to put down, this is definitely the book for you! I highly recommend this book to fans of Operation Prom Date and It Had to be You, both novels published by Entangled Teen Crush.

Title: The First Kiss Hypothesis
Author: Christina Mandelski
Publication Date: November 6, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen Crush

Nora Reid believes scientific laws control everything, even love. With her grandparents’ epic first kiss story cemented in her brain, Nora develops a hypothesis she’s determined to prove:for each person in the world, there is exactly one other person, and at first kiss, they’ll experience an immediate and intense reaction.

But after four years of zero-reaction kisses, she comes up with a new theory: maybe that pesky crush on her stunningly hot best friend Eli Costas is skewing her results.

She needs to get rid of him, and fast.

Eli Costas is an injury-prone lacrosse star with a problem—the one chance he had at winning over the girl next door resulted in the most epically sucktastic first kiss ever. And now she’s…trying to get rid of him? Hell no. It’s time to
disprove her theory and show her exactly what she’s missing.
Game. On.

Disclaimer: This book contains a stunningly hot lacrosse player who isn’t above playing dirty to win over the stubborn girl-next-door of his dreams.

Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee ALexander Review + BLOG TOUR

Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee Alexander Review

I would first like to thank Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours for providing me with a copy of this novel and choosing me as a host for this tour, and to Entangled Teen publishing as well. This is a companion novel to Love and Other Unknown Variables, and while I have not read that novel, I feel as though the reader does not need to read it in order to understand the plot and the characters in the novel. I absolutely think this book was super cute and definitely something that anyone can enjoy if you like romantic books with a hint of the classic teen angst put in with a touch of sweetness. The characters were so adorable and lovable, and were actually some of the most realistic characters that I have ever read about. You meet Becca, this young girl who has just had one of life's greatest obstacles thrown at her at such a young age. She really learns to overcome her grief while still holding onto what has happened as something that will always be with her in the end. I'm not usually such a big fan for books in this genre, but I have to say that this book made me laugh, cry, and root for the main characters like no other. I highly recommend this book to fans of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. This book will give you all the warm feelings that a rom-com YA should, with the touch of contemporary that ties the entire work together in a perfect package, ready to be opened by the reader.

Book Title: Life After Juliet

Author: Shannon Lee Alexander

Release Date: July 5, 2016

Genre: Contemporary YA

Becca Hanson was never able to make sense of the real world. When her best friend Charlotte died, she gave up on it altogether. Fortunately, Becca can count on her books to escape—to other times, other places, other people...

Until she meets Max Herrera. He’s experienced loss, too, and his gorgeous, dark eyes see Becca the way no one else in school can.

As it turns out, kissing is a lot better in real life than on a page. But love and life are a lot more complicated in the real world...and happy endings aren't always guaranteed.

The companion novel to Love and Other Unknown Variables is an exploration of loss and regret, of kissing and love, and most importantly, a celebration of hope and discovering a life worth living again.

Saving Montgomery Sole by Mariko Tamaki Review + BOOK TOUR

Saving Montgomery Sole by Mariko Tamaki Review
I’m so glad to be a part of the Blog Tour for this book, which was put together by Nori from ReadWriteLove28; thank you so much for including me in this tour and providing me with a copy of this novel! I’m also so proud to be able to participate in this tour during Pride Month, and though I am not a member of the LGBT community, I am a proud supporter of equal love :) This was such an AMAZING book, the representation alone was astounding, and how authentic and realistic it was truly left me as a reader feeling as if I was able to look into the lives of these characters and see something that could be evident in real life. The main character, Montgomery Sole, was a relatable character thatI was able to connect with as a person who is hit with struggles in life, but also as a teenage girl that is going through high school and all of the drama that comes with it. She is put through an experience that is definitely a defining moment in her life, and while she doesn’t handle it well at first, she comes around and finds her way to finding a solution to the problems that have been the result of Montgomery and her antics. The dealing with of the arrival of a man and his debatable views takes the stronghold as Montgomery and her friends’ lives are affected by the influence that he begins to hold over the town. The development of this situation was written very well, and added an aspect to Montgomery’s life that allowed her to be able to realize how her actions are affecting those around her as well as how she is changing as a person as well. The author finds a way to pull everything that happens in Montgomery and the town’s lives together and resolve the major issues that are affecting how they live and how they treat those around them. The Eye of Know plays a decent sized part throughout the story, causing some major problems for some of the town’s most, shall we say “aggressive,” people. I absolutely adored this book and the message that it portrays, and highly recommend this to everyone who needs a nice contemporary read with a dash of self-discovery.
GIVEAWAY: There are 5 (yes, 5!) copies of Saving Montgomery Sole up for grabs - US only

Hair in All the Wrong Places by Andrew Buckley Review + BOOK TOUR + GIVEAWAY

Hair in All the Wrong Places by Andrew Buckley

Review: I'm so glad to be a part of "Hair in All the Wrong Places" Book Tour! Thank you so much to Chapter by Chapter for sending me a review copy of this novel and having me as a tour host! I really enjoyed the essence of the story  - it is a quick read that is light and fluffy, definitely for someone who enjoys a type of Middle Grade fantasy. The main character is relatable and is easily understood throughout the entire book, and I found myself really enjoying what Colin had to say rather than wanting to skip to the action part of the plot. All of the characters are unique in their own ways and that element really assists the writing style as well, for you can tell when a certain character is talking without needing the extra "so and so said" at the end of each piece of dialogue. This was such a cute read, and I liked the romantic aspect as well, adding it in made the readers be able to root for the character and his love interest all while hoping that everything would turn out okay in the end. The romance did not over power the true nature and plot of the book, and for that I am thankful - we were able to focus at the problems at hand and not have the romance shadow over everything else that was happening throughout the novel. I highly recommend this book to fans of werewolf novels and any Middle Grade fantasy novel as well. I'm really looking forward to reading more of Andrew's writing and seeing more of his characters.

What has he done?

What’s happening to him?

And what on Earth is that smell?

For Colin Strauss, puberty stinks. Blackouts, hallucinations, and lapses in memory are the perils of growing up werewolf.

Worse than that, Colin worries he might have had something to do with the recent attacks on the townspeople. He may have eaten a person. It doesn’t matter that it’s someone he doesn’t particularly like. What kind of boy goes around eating people?

Foolishly, all Colin can think about is how Becca Emerson finally kissed him for the first time. Yep, hormones are afoot.

Yikes!

But girls will have to wait. Collin better get himself under control before someone else ends up hurt or worse . . . dead.
